Oh yeah, I titled this post from a One Direction song, and I am not ashamed to admit that! But it kind of sums up this past year. I don't want to be a sap, but if it weren't for my close friends and family, I wouldn't have had the gumption to leave a job that sucked the life out of me and then jump into the scary but rewarding waters of self-employment. It's been a little over a month since I opened Simply Print and Megan posted about her experience, so I just wanted to follow suit and publicly announce that I am an entrepreneur, a small business owner, and working for myself is very tough and scary, but it's not so bad when you've got the support (and I don't mean financially).
I am so thankful to have done this transition in a time where the media is loving girl gangs (ie Taylor Swift and all of her girl-frands) and girl bosses, and pretty much the portrayal that girls aren't just catty towards each other, rather we actually love to support one another and help other girls achieve their deserved greatness. It's not fun going at it alone, so I'm eternally grateful for Megan and Aleksandra for roughing it with me. Simply Print is our baby and us mamas want to see it grow into something great and something we can all be proud of.
Most days I go through the motions and because it has been so crazy since we've "opened our doors," resulting in that I haven't had the time to sit down and process everything. Right now I'm smiling to myself because it's real, I really am doing my own thing and am responsible for my own livelihood. I hope everyone gets the chance to do what they want to do, life is so short and health is fleeting. I may be young, and inexperienced, and may have jumped too high too quickly, yet I'm happy with how it has been working and I hope it continues improving.
